NAJ has a long-term collaboration with Olaiá to connect the Dutch and Brazilian music scenes. Collaboration consisted of working together on:
Artist in Residencies: NAJ organized an Artist-in-Residence series in collaboration with Olaiá, bringing Brazilian musicians to the Netherlands. In each edition, the Brazilian artist collaborated with local Dutch jazz musicians to compose new music, which was then professionally recorded at Wedgeview Studios. Additionally, NAJ organized a concert or presentation for each edition to showcase the newly composed pieces.
Recording new content: New Amsterdam Jazz consistently supports the creation, development, and recording of new content for Olaiá’s channel. The organization frequently aids in facilitating and organizing recording sessions

Artist Residencies
June 2021LEO MIDDEA Brazilian singer & guitarist
In the first Artist Residency in June 2021, New Amsterdam Jazz and Olaiá brought Brazilian singer and guitarist Leo Middea to the Netherlands. After two weeks of composing, professionally recording and rehearsing with Dutch musicians, Olaiá and Leo Middea performed together in June 2021, presenting their compositions at the Roode Bioscoop.
October 2021JOÃO SABIÁ Brazilian singer & composer
For the second installment of the Artist Residency program, New Amsterdam Jazz and Olaiá hosted Brazilian singer and composer João Sabiá in Amsterdam for two weeks in September 2021. Together with the musicians from Mabassa, he composed and recorded new songs at Wegdeview Studios. To close off his stay, he performed alongside Roda Da Holanda at the WesterUnie on October 8th, 2021 for a crowd of 800 people.
July 2022ANNA TREA Brazilian singer & composer
For the third installment of the Artist Residency program, New Amsterdam Jazz and Olaiá hosted Brazilian singer and composer Anna Tréa in Amsterdam for two weeks. Together with the musicians from Mabassa, she composed and recorded new songs at Wegdeview Studios. As a farewell to Amsterdam, they presented their music at de Roode Bioscoop on July 6th 2022.
